Hailing from Maine

Terms & Conditions

Last updated June 2026

These terms govern membership in and use of the Hailing from Maine certification program and website. By applying for verification or using the mark, you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Hailing from Maine is a private membership and certification organization. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the State of Maine or any government agency, and the mark is not an official or governmental designation.

2. The certification

We verify, against our published standard, that a member company is genuinely headquartered and led from Maine. Verification reflects the information you provide and reasonable checks against public records as of the date of review. It is not a guarantee of any company’s products, services, financial condition, or conduct.

3. Eligibility & your attestation

To qualify, a company must maintain a genuine Maine principal place of business, have at least one founder or senior executive resident in Maine, and conduct its primary decision-making in the state. You must provide accurate, complete information and sign an attestation to these facts. Material misstatements are grounds for denial or revocation.

4. License to use the mark

Approved members receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to display the verification seal and badges while in good standing, solely as permitted by our usage guidelines. We own all rights in the name, seal, and marks. The license ends automatically if membership lapses or is revoked.

5. Maintaining eligibility

Membership requires annual renewal and re-attestation. If your company relocates its headquarters out of Maine, no longer meets the standard, or fails to renew, the license terminates and you must stop using the mark.

6. Fees

Membership fees are billed annually based on company size at the rates published on our website, which may change. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. Optional merchandise is sold separately.

7. Suspension & revocation

We may suspend or revoke certification, and require removal of the mark, if information proves inaccurate, eligibility is lost, fees go unpaid, or the mark is misused.

8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The website and certification are provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim relating to the program will not exceed the fees you paid in the prior twelve months.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maine, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Maine.

10. Changes & contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a revised date. Questions? Reach us through the contact form on our website.
